The Villiersdorp Wild Flower Garden and Nature Reserve covers 536 ha of varied fynbos. The area has a rich botanical heritage and the protea family is especially well represented with 25 species. There is a large variety of Serruria, Leucospernum and Leucodendron as well as a great number of Erica species. Seventy bird-species have been recorded in the gardens and the reserve. Most frequently seen are the Cape Sugarbird, various sunbirds, Cape Robin, Karoo Prinian, Cape Batis, Bokmakierie, Cape White-eye, Cape Francolin, Guinea-fowl and Cape Rock Thrush. The reserve provides a number of pleasant and easy walks.

Theewater's Pleasure Cruises offer scenic catamaran cruises on Theewaterskloof Dam. The Silhouette is equipped with a refreshment center, music, toilet facilities and a barbeque/braai. Visitors can choose between four different cruises. Booking of all cruises is essential.

Play golf on the excellent nine-hole course at Theewaterskloof Country Club. Golfers can enjoy a game on a course, which boasts some of the most scenic fairways in the country.

Theewaterskloof Dam provides excellent Trout and Bass fishing opportunities and has been the venue for the National Bass Fishing Competition. Annual fresh water angling licences are available.

Theewaters Sports Club provides permits to participate in sailing, skiing and fishing.

A number of well established hiking trails exist in Villiersdorp and surroundings. At the Nuweberg Forestry Station, hikers will enjoy walking several trails, one of the paths leads to the Boland Hiking Trail which has overnight huts and for which a permit must be obtained. In the Villiersdorp Nature Reserve there are two hiking trails, the shorter takes about an hour and the longer about three hours to complete. For the more adventurous there is a 7 to 8 hour climb to the top of Blokkop at 1600m and for those who prefer to drive there are a number of good 4 x 4 routes.
