The Drostdy Museum Complex is a charming building with great architectural value. The open air Drostdy Museum Complex comprises several buildings including official, town and country dwellings, namely The Drostdy, The Old Goal and Ambagswerf (Tradesyard), Mayville with its beautiful rose garden, the Secretary's House and Zanddrift which is now a popular restaurant.

The Dutch Reformed Church is an imposing building with eclectic architectural features, including gothic, renaissance, baroque and vernacular Cape elements.

Artists are numerous in Swellendam. Several well-known artists have settled here and their studios may be visited.

Sulina Faerie Sanctuary has a magical faerie display and garden. Open every day, excepting Mondays, from 09h00 - 17h00, during school holidays, open 7 days a week.

Hermitage Liqueur Farm, situated 3 km out of Swellendam. Swellendam is the largest Youngberry growing area in the country and this unique farm may be visited for liqueur tasting. Other Youngberry products are also for sale.
