| Elgin
Apple Museum is one of the oldest remaining buildings in Grabouw, situated on
the banks of the Palmiet River. The Museum depicts the history of the fruit industry
in the region. Visit
the Elgin / Grabouw Country Club for a scenic view overlooking the Eikenhof dam
and pine covered mountains. The annual Elgin Festival takes place on the last
week-end in October. Wonderful flower displays, fruit, wines and a great variety
of local products.
The
Palmiet Hydro-Electric Pumped Storage station is situated in the ecologically
sensitive area of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve. It reveals the fascinating
story behind the electricity that powers our households and industries. It has
won environmental awards for the care given to the conservation of the fynbos
environment.
Visit
Windermere, where pure apple cider is made in a traditional way from fresh apples,
containing no preservatives or additives. It is similar to the German 'Apfel Wein'
and is a pleasant thirst quenching drink. Cider tasting is available to visitors.

Rust Estate home of Paul Cluver Wines is a must visit. It has everything in one
- cool climate wines (wine tasting and cellar tours), a forest amphitheatre and
an elegant Guest House - all within the beauty of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve.
Duncan's
Rose Nursery boasts a magnificent rose garden. Their gardens display all the colours
of the rainbow. Remember to take your camera along to take some memorable pictures.
They also have a nursery and sales outlet at the Peregrine Farm Stall on the N2.
Peregrine
Farmstall and Farmer's Grill is famous for excellent home-made biltong and has
a stunning variety of traditional South African treats. Orchard Farmstall &
Coffee Shop offers picnic lunches and a large variety of deli products. Wildekrans
Winery and Art Gallery is located on the premises. Houwhoek Farmstall & Coffee
Shop serve the most delicious breakfasts and lunches or if you enjoy the outdoors
you can order a picnic. Farm fresh produce available on a daily basis.
Applethwaite
Farm and Church, was built in the early 1960's by Edmond Lombardi, the founder
of Appletiser. The church was built for the use of the farming community and is
interesting because of the Italian marbles and wood carvings of the Stations of
the Cross.
Houwhoek
Inn is the oldest licensed hotel in South Africa. It nestles under ancient oak
trees and mountain peaks. Enjoy their Sunday lunches, pub, dinner & dance
and mountain walks.
