White Shark cage diving and shark viewing trips is a very popular Gansbaai attraction to visitors from across the globe. There are nine white shark viewing / diving operations active in the Gansbaai area. Some operators have a specialist crew for photography and film work, while others offer an opportunity for total adventure.

Whale Watching can be observed from De Kelders to Pearly Beach between June and November every year when they come to Walker Bay to calve. Gansbaai offers some of the best boat-based and land based whale watching in the world.

Swimming and surfing can be enjoyed at Stanfords Bay, Uilenkraalsmond and Pearly Beach. They provide excellent safe conditions for both swimming and surfing. There are lifesavers on duty, but only during school holidays.

Take a walk on the jetty for a breathtaking view of incoming and departing fishing trawlers or enjoy a seafood meal at one of the restaurants situated in the harbour.

Uilenkraalsmond Pleasure Park offers mini-golf (putt-putt) a super tube (water slide) and sport enthusiasts can watch popular sports on a big screen.

Duiwelsgat hiking trail is a 7 kilometer trail along the coast. The route can easily be done in about three hours. This is a circular trail and will take you through the most beautiful fynbos, with a breathtaking view over Walker Bay. The trail starts at the Gansbaai Camping Site, with interesting lookout points.

Byeneskrans hiking trail is a 5.5 kilometer circular route and will take hikers about 3 hours to complete. This is an alternative route for easy walking. Hikers are rewarded with fynbos, Bushmen caves and old milkwood trees.
Beautiful views of the sea and surrounding landscape, including the Kraaibosch Dam makes this route an absolute must for all nature lovers.

Enjoy a view of the sea and mountains and see the fynbos from your seat on a tractor trip. Enjoy a picnic under Milkwoods and experience the hospitality of the Strandveld, tasting local witblits, potjiekos and homemade bread. There is accommodation available for large groups and families.

The Walker Bay Nature Reserve consists of five coastal areas, lying between Hermanus and Die Dam near Struisbaai. The main section, known as Walker Bay, stretches from the Klein River estuary to De Kelders at Gansbaai. This section covers about 1000 ha with a coastline of 17 km and features a long beach, known as Die Plaat, with white sands and rocky limestone outcrops to the east. Visitors are welcome to enjoy day hikes along the coast. Angling, swimming and picnicking are permitted, but visitors should note that the sea can be rough and dangerous.

Visit Franskraal, where an ancient Milkwood Forest can be seen, one of the last left in the world. It is one of the splendid wonders of creation at Franskraal. Franskraal is popular for its shore angling, especially spots such as Haaiklip and Blousloep.
