year, hundreds of Southern
Right whales
migrate into our coastal waters,
visiting the sheltered, shallow
bays to calve and nurse their
young. The whales,
mere meters from the shore,
provide unsurpassed whale
watching opportunities
between June and November. Humpback
whales migrate
through our region between May
and December. Bryde's
whales are found
slightly further off shore all
year round.

Southernmost
region of Africa
is a subregion of the Overberg.
Bordered by blue mountain ranges,
set in undulating hills in a
kaleidoscope of gold, green
and brown, with endless beaches
and dunes, is a truly spectacular
and varied landscape. The region
is home to more than 8 500 fynbos
species, more than 6 000 are
found nowhere else in the world.
